We had a great week with a great column in the Boston Globe and dominating at the debate with actual answers. While my opponents gave scripted talking points, I stayed true to my simple and straightforward message of solutions, solutions, solutions. You can watch the debate here!

Big Momentum!!

We are surging at exactly the right time, and I need your help to keep it up!

Today, we were featured in this excellent column in the Boston Globe!

Yesterday at the debate, while my opponents sputtered tired talking points and non-solutions, I clearly spelled out my simple and straightforward plan of real, honest and serious solutions to the challenges we the people face every day in the real world.

This is it! We are in the final 44 days, and one of our wonderful supporters is having a party for us—a House Party to send me to the House! August 5th, 6:00-8:30 pm, West Newbury, MA.

Our First Ad!

55 = the number of days until the Massachusetts primary!!!

Talk about exciting! But let me share with you something even more exciting... Marisa's new ad!!!

ENDORSEMENT!

We are proud and honored to announce a National Endorsement of our campaign! The National Women's Political Caucus has endorsed our campaign! "Marisa DeFranco's experience as a human rights advocate and an attorney makes her a powerful ally for women in D.C. We are excited to see the changes that her hard work will bring," said NWPC President Linda Young.

Powerful ally.

Twenty: Ideas #17 — It's a Peach

Did you know that there are 5 pick your own peaches farms right here in our district? Yes, that's right, peaches in New England!

July 2, 2014
Equal Pay for Equal Work

Marisa, although excluded from U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Lowell and Boston events promoting a Democratic women’s economic agenda, is the only candidate in this race who has direct experience with the issues affecting women.

June 30, 2014
Urgent — midnight tonight

It is now or never. This is not a dress rehearsal. This is our final chance to make a strong showing for this final deadline. I'm asking--please help us.

We've done the signatures, we've put out our platform. I've literally gone On The Record nationally and locally with the media, we've traveled across the district talking to voters, from small businesses on Main Street, to LGBT and women's rights forums, to Rotary and Senior Centers.

June 27, 2014
ENDORSEMENT! 3 DAYS

DO YOU WANT TO TEAR DOWN THAT BRICK WALL OF BIG MONEY AND WIN? WE NEED YOUR HELP. WE CAN ONLY DO IT TOGETHER.

June 27, 2014
This is not a fundraising email. It is for women and their allies

This email is a thank you to all of the women and men I have met over the years (and the ones I have not as well) who support and work for women's health and rights every single day, often at risk of their own personal safety. Thank you for what you do. I know the Supreme Court just made your job that much harder, and we want you to know that we are standing with you.

June 24, 2014
This Is It

Thank you for all of your support so far! We have just 7 days before the LAST reporting deadline of this entire primary race! We need you to step up and help us so we can finish strong!

June 13, 2014
Lucky

Who says 13 is an unlucky number? On this day in history, in 1866, by a vote of 120 to 32, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the 14th Amendment, establishing Civil Rights for all in the bedrock of our Constitution.

June 5, 2014
War on Women Part II

This past week Nancy Pelosi toured the Commonwealth on a "When Women Succeed America Succeeds" tour professing that she wants more women in Congress. And then she endorsed my opponent...an entrenched incumbent man. Read this wonderful Letter to Editor in the Boston Globe.

June 5, 2014
Thank you!

THANK YOU to everyone who helped us reach our May goal!! I truly appreciate all of your support.

Of course, now it is June, and we need your help more than ever...

May 31, 2014
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT

There is no more time left. We need to raise $2575 by midnight tonight to meet our goal.

Let's show the status quo machine and powers that be that we are not going to let big money dictate our politics and our lives and that WE THE PEOPLE will decide our elections.

May 30, 2014
Ideas #16 — Real Equal Pay

Women need real equality, not useless panaceas.

I am the only candidate who is willing to tell the whole truth on discrimination against women. I am the candidate who has concrete and real ideas for true reform...

May 29, 2014
48 HOURS ONLY — ALL OF THE ABOVE

Do you truly want to change politics as usual? If yes, then please help us today. Two days ago I wrote to you about our critical deadline that is just 48 hours away. If just 20 of you give $50 today, we meet our daily goal.

May 27, 2014
Ideas #15 — Gold Standard for Veterans

Our servicemembers and veterans are central to our safety and security.

The VA scandal highlights the deprivation of healthcare to many veterans, and in some instances, leads to death. For these reasons, what the scandal is bringing to light is unacceptable...

May 27, 2014
5 Days Left

This is it. It is now or never. We have qualified for the ballot (FIRST). We have shared our common sense ideas and solutions on how to create jobs on Main Street, on how to make equality a reality for women, and on how to pass Real Immigration Reform.

We have a great staff and volunteers ready to knock on doors across the district. All we need now is you.

May 23, 2014
Ideas #14 — WAR on Immigrant Women

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Note: Instead of a donation on this email, I am asking you to write a letter to our Senators and the President, asking them to afford the full protection of our law to immigrant women fleeing persecution.

May 21, 2014
Ideas #11, 12, 13 — Real Immigration Reform, EARNED LEGALIZATION and more

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

...My reform is not the big money, big corporate giveaway that is the "gang of eight" bill. My reform encompasses what is good for our Nation's safety and security while keeping alive the promise of immigration that is the fundamental heritage of our country...

May 19, 2014
Twenty: Idea #10 — Real Immigration Reform, SECURITY

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

The plan continues with Idea #10, Port and Border Security. Right now, our borders and ports are vulnerable — the vast majority of cargo containers enter our country through ship or truck...

May 17, 2014
Twenty: Idea #9, 10, 11, 12, 13 — Real Immigration Reform

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

The plan starts with Idea #9, Implement Serious Fines on Employers Violating the Law. Right now, big corporations violate our immigration and labor laws and exploit immigrant labor with impunity, while small businesses obey the rules...

May 12, 2014
Twenty: Idea #8 — Equal Pay for Veterans

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Our servicemembers and veterans are central to our safety and security. Yet, the U.S. government is not honoring its commitments to our veterans. Denial or delay of Benefits is chronic and unacceptable.

May 9, 2014
Twenty: Idea #7 — End Education Exploitation

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Education is supposed to be one of the keys to achieving the American Dream, but with today's outrageous tuition rates and our current student loan scheme, the door is shut to so many.

May 8, 2014
Twenty: Idea #6 — Tried & True Mortgage Rules

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

The tragedy is that the economic meltdown was entirely avoidable. Some of the most direct causes of the meltdown--exploitative financial instruments stemming from absurdly underfunded home purchases — were entirely legal. Had the tried and true mortgage rules that have served us well for decades been followed, the crisis in the housing market never would have occurred.

May 7, 2014
Twenty: Idea #5 — Tried & True Mortgage Rules

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Our stock market is supposed to be a place where we can invest our hard-earned dollars. But because the criminal element of Wall Street breaks the law with impunity while Congress does nothing and the DOJ looks the other way, in 2008 we hardworking Americans were devastated and lost a large portion of our savings — savings we earned.

May 5, 2014
Twenty: Idea #4 — Time for some perp walks

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Our small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy but Congress constantly undermines us at every turn. If Congress would stop crushing our innovation and creativity and entrepreneurial spirit, then together we can build a strong and thriving Main Street that will create jobs and restart the engine of our economy.

May 3, 2014
Twenty: Idea #3 — End Bank Welfare

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

My opponents are in the kowtowing business--kowtowing to party establishment, big money, PAC, and K Street. I am in the solutions business. The solutions business for Main Street's small businesses-your business.

May 2, 2014
Twenty: Idea #2

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

Here is Idea #2 in our campaign to give voters actual solutions to our current challenges and our 20 steps to a Total Democracy Makeover.

May 1, 2014
Blue

Yesterday the party machine sent an email for our entrenched elite 17-year incumbent opponent saying he is in "the race of his life". How out of touch are they? Isn't this election about your life? My proposal to you: send me to Congress and I will be in the race for your life.

May 1, 2014
Twenty

20 days, 20 ideas, 20 minutes, $20: Makeover

I have an idea. What if a campaign gave voters actual solutions to our current challenges?

National!

We have officially gone National...as well as Regional! Last week, I was interviewed on Greta Van Susteren. Making national news is a BIG coup for any primary campaign because the power of incumbency silences dissent from within the party.

But making it to national TV for a grassroots campaign like ours? Simply unheard of--until now!

April 23, 2014
War on Women?

Houston, we have a problem. The Democratic Party machine is just as sexist as the GOP. What's a girl to do? The only thing she can do...tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The Democratic Party holds itself out as the champion of women, but in a blatantly sexist move, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee commissioned a poll in our race and omitted Marisa's name from the poll.

April 19, 2014
LAST

Why is it that the creatures of Congress always put the greed of the huge corporations first and the interests of small business last? I recently sat down with the Lowell Sun Editorial Board and talked about my plans to help small businesses.

If elected, DeFranco said closing corporate loopholes would be another one of her top priorities. DeFranco also said she would push to end all government subsidies of corporations. "It is anti-American and anti-capitalist to use the taxpayers' dollars to subsidize the big corporations to put all of the small businesses out of business on main street," said DeFranco, who describes herself as a small-business person.

DeFranco said more needs to be done to help small businesses and she was critical of [her opponent's] efforts on the economy and job front. "I've said very clearly that if you have been there 17 years and employment is mediocre, we are losing jobs on main street, and the economy was destroyed by the so-called masters of the universe on your watch, you are not delivering for the district," DeFranco said.

You can read the full story here.

You know that I am a real democrat who will fight for our small businesses that are the real job creators for you now and for the future of all our children. You know I will stand up for Main Street rather than Wall Street or K Street.

The Whole Truth

WARNING: This message is not short and is filled with The Whole Truth, and nothing but. If you are interested in a real candidate who is daring to run a Clean Money campaign and want someone to speak with you in more than terse talking points, read on. If you like the status quo of our current system of a do-nothing Congress bought and sold by billionaires, please delete this email.

My Declaration of Independence (WATCH THIS VIDEO)

FIRST. I hope you all saw our news this week! We were the FIRST, the very FIRST Congressional campaign in the entire Commonwealth to qualify for the ballot! Not just first in our race (awesome!) but first of anyone in the entire delegation...

With the awful decision from the Supreme Court this week in McCutcheon, I will face an even bigger onslaught of big money...

I refuse to let big money dictate our lives and our politics and I refuse to sit back and accept that our politics has to be a money arms race. Who says it does? The PACsters and their ilk with all the big money say it does, but if you as Americans believe in truth and justice and believe that words and ideas should be more powerful than the PACsters, prove them wrong.

April 2, 2014
THANK YOU!

YOU did it! Thank you! Cinderella gets to stay at the ball (but still needs that other slipper)!

Things are moving fast and we will have much to report to you in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned...we will need your continued support to keep dancing!

My many, many thanks

April 1, 2014
FIRST!

FIRST. You all saw our news yesterday! We were the FIRST, the very FIRST campaign in the entire Commonwealth to qualify for the ballot! Not just first in our race (awesome!) but first of anyone in the entire delegation. Think about it: we are the most modestly funded of the approximately 13 Congressional candidates in this state, yet we met our obligation of 2000 signatures (actually, we surpassed it with 2220) before any of our colleagues, many of whom have been doing this for years.

Why? Because as I have promised you, we will do things smarter, faster and better than any of our competition. My record of delivering on my promises is unparalleled and our team has proven it once again. I have to give a special thanks to my incredible team for literally slogging it in the snow, rain, and bitter cold in February and March to bring us to this amazing accomplishment of being the first to qualify. Let me tell you it was not easy. Thank you team!

Now the next phase begins and we will need all the help we can get.

MIDNIGHT TONIGHT: Pumpkins?

This is it, our biggest deadline of the campaign. At the stroke of midnight we either get to stay at the ball or go home as pumpkins. Your contribution can help make or break our grassroots campaign. Hope you can help us meet this crucial goal!

Thank you for helping us stay in the fight!

Only 24 hours left...we need YOU!
From: Maura Flynn, Campaign Manager

I hope you saw Marisa's notes. We have no time left. Every day I see more and more people excited to vote for Marisa, but she can't do this alone. We need you and everyone to pitch in and help TODAY.

This is our biggest deadline of the entire campaign and we need YOU to help us make a strong showing that grassroots power can beat big money.

If you think it's just grand that the candidate with the richest friends and the biggest bank account should win over the candidate with the best record of helping people and solving the problems of the people she represents, take no action now.

March 30, 2014
48 Hours

In just 48 hours we hit the first FEC filing deadline of 2014 and we must make a strong showing. I cannot emphasize this enough — if you do nothing, big money wins and the people lose.

I need your help right now to fulfill the promise of a government that is actually of, by, and for the people.

I said this before and cannot overstate it...without you, real grassroots campaigns do not exist. I need you to stand with me. Can I count on your support today?

Only you have the power to defeat the stranglehold of big money on our politics, our freedoms, and our rights.

With you, everything is possible. Please help us right now and contribute $10, $25, $50, $200, $500, $1000 or $2600.

March 28, 2014
3 Days & Counting…Response from Marisa

I hope you saw Maura's email. We have just 3 days to meet the biggest deadline of our campaign and are short $6400. We need your help immediately.

This grassroots campaign depends on people like you. There is no time to do it later, this is make or break time.

We need your help right away to reach our goal. Please click here and make your strongest possible contribution today.

If you like our politics the way it is and agree that the candidate with the biggest bank account and the most PAC, K Street and Wall Street money should represent you in Congress, do nothing.

March 24, 2014
Just 1...

We are now at our biggest filing deadline for the entire campaign.

I hope you saw Marisa's email about our this HUGE deadline quickly approaching. In just 1 week, we need to make a strong showing to keep our momentum going.

One week will make the difference between make or break. Your response has been great but we still have $9750 to go in just 7 days. That means we need to raise $1392.85 each day. We really need your help.

This campaign has been about you from the beginning. About fighting for your jobs and rights and your American Dream.

March 19, 2014
12 Days of — DEADLINE (sorry, not Christmas)

This is our biggest filing deadline for the entire season.

In just 12 days we will be judged: by the press, by the political establishment and by our friends and neighbors. We are down to the wire. We need to raise $12,000 in the next 12 days.

This is the moment.

Please seize that moment with me now by clicking right here and making a donation.

We are at Make or Break time. That's why I'd love if you'd step up to the plate and make your strong donation to our campaign today.

We are better than the political establishment. We won't take PAC money. We're too good and too clean for that.

March 10, 2014
KEEP OUT...women need not apply

March is Women's History Month and we just celebrated International Women's Day. But women's numbers in Congress are nothing to celebrate. Only 18% of our U.S. Congress is Women. How can it be that in the 21st Century, women are a staggeringly low number of our representatives in the United States of America?

We rank 78th in the world. Unacceptable. We are America, we are the leader of the free world and yet when it comes to electing women we are behind 77 other countries in the world. And there is just one reason for it--MONEY.

March 3, 2014
THANK YOU!!

I am happy to report that YOU did it! You made it happen — we met and then exceeded our goal! Thank you so much for stepping up and responding to our call.

We have entered March roaring as lions! You have given us continued momentum, and we will keep on fighting, speaking truth to power, and cleaning up our system.

Thanks again to you, March has come in like a lion for us and we will stay that way, roaring right into April (no offense to the little lambs)!

February 28, 2014
5 Days & Counting...MIDNIGHT TONIGHT! Maura Flynn
Campaign Manager

I'll get right to the point. Your response has been awesome, but we are $1440 short of our goal. We must make our goal by Midnight TONIGHT.

If you have not contributed yet, now is the time. If you have donated before (thank YOU!), please dig deep and double your last donation.

Don't let big money PAC-K Pols control our lives. You know that Marisa will speak truth to power whether the powerful like it or not. Put them on notice that right here, right now, you will stand with Marisa and you have her back.

February 27, 2014
Response to "5 Days & Counting...48 HOURS"
Jean Palmer (reporting from the field)
Volunteer & Signature Coordinator

... Although it's been mighty cold out there for the loyal volunteers collecting signatures, the warmth and support of so many voters who already know Marisa and are eager to sign has been heartwarming for them.

Volunteers tell me they are proud to tell signers that Marisa is the only candidate in this race who's running a Clean Money Campaign and that she will be beholden only to the people in her district and to no one else. ...

February 24, 2014
5 Days & Counting

We are on our way to the ballot!

Over the last two weeks, our awesome crew of volunteers has been out in the cold, snow and rain collecting the signatures we need to get on the ballot.

The response from voters has been incredible and I want to get back out there and join them, but I have to make sure we continue to have resources.

Our grassroots, clean-money campaign is gaining ground, but we need your support today to keep it going. Please support our campaign right now by clicking here.

February 12, 2014
My friend Marisa DeFranco
From: Maura Flynn, Campaign Manager

They say first impressions are lasting. This one certainly was.

I was so impressed by a speech Marisa gave at a Democratic Coalition breakfast that I made it a point to approach her afterwards.

We spent several hours talking policy and politics and I was moved by both her passion and her principles.

That's why I am proud to support Marisa for her Congressional bid and here is why:

Marisa is willing to stand up for what is right, not what is politically expedient.

Besides honesty and integrity, she has genuine empathy for those struggling to get along. As an immigration attorney, she knows first-hand the challenges faced by those with little to no resources - and she helps them - every workday of her life.

January 28, 2014
No Fear

"[Sometimes] there's this fear to do the right thing and stand up for what the constituents really need. Marisa is not going to be afraid; she is going to stand up for what she believes in and what her constituents need." - State Rep. Diana Dizoglio

I will always stand up for the right thing. One of the most controversial issues facing our country is immigration and, as an immigration attorney, I happen to know a great deal on that subject.

Immigration is the one issue no one wants to talk about. There's a great deal of fear among elected officials that they can only lose by taking a stance.

January 21, 2014
Throw open the doors!

Multinational corporations have always enjoyed outsized sway over the laws shaping the way we live our lives and run our small businesses.

But things today are looking much, much worse than we could ever imagine.

At this very moment, closed door negotiations are underway that will give multinational corporations the right to challenge our country's laws in a secretive international court. Those negotiations revolve around a trade pact called the TPP or Trans-Pacific Partnership which aims to liberalize trade amongst all the signees.

January 17, 2014
One week to go

Please Join the Host Committee for a special evening on Thursday evening January 24, in honor of Marisa DeFranco for United States Congress 6th District, Massachusetts.

January 9, 2014
Their influence is — everywhere

First — I hope you are getting through this winter keeping warm as possible. With any luck, we'll be done with this cold spell in the next couple of days.

Today, I wanted to talk about the pervasive influence of PACs.

Indeed, they are affecting how we are living our lives, who is elected to office and how our government is run.

December 30, 2013
48 Hours to go

Thank you again for all your support through my campaign.

Tomorrow, we have a crucial milestone. In just 48 hours we have our importantDecember 31st filing deadline.

I need you to help me show strong by clicking here now. It is only with your help that we can claim a victory in September's primary.

December 27, 2013
3 Days and Counting!

I hope you've enjoyed a relaxing, warm and wonderful time with your friends and family over the Christmas holiday.

As we approach the New Year our campaign has another test. In just 4 days the public, the media and our competition will judge us on our financial strength.

Please make a donation to help us show strong by clicking here now.

We need to show an additional $10,000 in funding by the end of the year. Your help at this moment in the campaign is crucial.

December 23, 2013
Happy Holidays!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season and a very happy and healthy New Year!

December 19, 2013
Why your cell phone bill is borderline crazy

AT&T offers PAC money to John Tierney. John Tierney accepts money from AT&T.

What is the lobbyist's expectation? I'm sure you know the answer.

But our opponent is hardly alone. It is a problem endemic to the entire system -- Democrat and Republican alike.

December 13, 2013
Fired-Up!

As we head into the holiday season, our grassroots campaign is gaining more momentum with each passing day.

I am incredibly grateful for your support which has allowed us to accomplish so much, so early on in the campaign! Our message is resounding throughout the district.

What's on my mind today and everyday are jobs. Jobs are the key to fixing so many problems that we face. With jobs, issues such as health, housing and the many disputes over social entitlements are resolved by a simple pay check.

I support a Real Deal Jobs Bill. We need direct investment that puts people to work -- today.

December 3, 2013

Thank you again for all your generosity and encouragement. It really means a lot to me.

Working together, we've built a stronger society for the people of the North Shore, Merrimack Valley and its surrounding communities.

As I write this message, our state and our nation are in a slow, but steady downward spiral - a downward spiral that is draining our country's vitality. If we are to live up to the ideal of the American dream, we need Democrats who will work for real change rather than conducting "business as usual."

November 20, 2013
Things are heating up in Winter

As we head into the holiday season, our campaign is gaining momentum each and every day.

Just this past week, we brought on board a new Field Coordinator, hired a Finance Director and completed the updating and outfitting of our office on 14 North Main Street in Middleton.

In the coming weeks, we will recruit even more volunteers, staff, and deliver our message to the people of our district.

That message is the American dream is in peril and we must fight to protect it for the sake of the middle class and those less fortunate…

Response to Skeletons

Happy Halloween! I hope you've had a chance to read about Marisa's "skeletons".

As you can see, they are not scary at all, but what is scary is how we run politics and elections in this country. Rather than being judged on Marisa's ideas, hard work ethic, and content of her character, our campaign will be judged by the pundits, politicos and media by the money in our campaign account.

October 24, 2013
Skeletons

Every politician and candidate has them, and it is time for me to come clean with mine. Here it goes….
Skeleton #1: I graduated Magna Cum Laude from college.
Skeleton #2: I graduated Cum Laude from law school.

October 18, 2013
Zero Results

Bad theater, zero results, taxpayer money squandered. Is this what you want as a voter? Is this what we pay for? If you want to get your taxpayer money's worth and send someone to Washington who will actually work hard for hardworking people, I need your help.

September 30, 2013
One more time...(not what you think)

I bet you all thought that this was going to be just one more fundraising email in the onslaught that you are receiving today from every candidate and politician across the country. Well, I thought I would do something different and share with you something I DID.

September 21, 2013
Marisa DeFranco will deliver the Keynote at Raising Our Voices: Women Speak Out for Social Justice

Lawrence Senior Center, 155 Haverhill Street, Lawrence, Massachusetts

The event will be held at the Lawrence Senior Center in Lawrence, Massachusetts on Saturday morning, September 21 and will be a forum on economic and immigration issues and the need for equity for women. Attorney DeFranco, a former Commissioner on the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of women and an immigration attorney will share her deep knowledge, passion and experience with issues of equity for women and her fight for human rights for immigrants.

September 19, 2013
Thank you for responding to Maura's message

Thank you all so much for responding to Maura's message. We are gaining momentum and and want to finish strong this month with our first big milestone only 11 days away--our first FEC report of the campaign.

September 12, 2013
History

A few weeks ago, Nancy Pelosi was here in Massachusetts raising money for Marisa's well-heeled opponent. We may not have Nancy's machine, but what we do have is Marisa's word and Marisa's integrity and she does not break them for anybody.

August 28, 2013
FW: Frustrated? Do Something!

I hope you have had a chance to see Marisa's note. The next 48 hours are critical for our grassroots, clean money campaign. We need Marisa to fight for us, but she needs urgent resources. We need you to do something. Can you stand up and help us reach our goal before our August budget deadline?

August 21, 2013
Frustrated? Do Something!

Are you frustrated with the empty partisan rhetoric that has taken over Washington? Well so am I! That is why I have decided to run for the privilege of representing the people of the 6th District. While wealthy Washington insiders skim more and more off the top, hardworking Americans work harder to make ends meet. It has to stop.

Status Quo Interrupted
March 30, 2012

We interrupt the regularly scheduled DC political machine to bring you breaking news from the field...there IS another candidate in this Democratic primary right here in the Commonwealth. ...

Poll Numbers
March 22, 2012

In the past few weeks, there has been a lot of talk about poll numbers - who's up, who's down, what the trends are, etc. Some of these are national, some are local, and some are being produced by the campaigns themselves.
